The People´s Deputies, experts in the sectors of secret service and internal security of Ukraine and the NATO member countries, and other experts attended the seminar.

 

Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defence, deems necessary to enhance parliamentary control over the activity of secret service bodies.

 

James Green, Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, deems necessary to create an efficient defence and security system in Ukraine that will meet current challenges. The said system should be efficient and is to stay under democratic control.

 

J. Green also deems necessary to provide access to the information concerning activity of secret service bodies, and to secure democratic accountability of the security and defence sector before the society.

 

The attendants of the international seminar discussed the methods to enhance parliamentary control over the activity of secret service bodies in Ukraine, and exchanged their experience of control over such activity in their countries.

 

The reporters introduced their motions regarding improvement of Parliament´s work and its profile Committee on legislative support of democratic control over security and secret service bodies.
